Little Joys

September 1 - 21, 2025
Tombstone, Arizona

Monsoon season continues, bringing many lovely gifts.

Boom! Another three weeks behind me. Behind you too! Happy to be healthy, to have had some wonderful weather to enjoy, to have a shorter to-do list, and to be closer to a new adventure. Little joys.

One of the draws of this property was the top-of-the-hill location. It avoids any flooding, but mostly it provides the daily gift of 360 degree views. Always unique and changing in color and design. Always entertaining.

Spending so much time here now, having an ever-changing world around us means a lot.

I am always glad to see the end of summer. Living in SoCal most of my life, with ten years in the Sacramento area, I couldn't wait for the cooler temps of Fall. Even though the monsoons here make for a better season, seeing Autumn on the calendar makes me smile. Pumpkin in the air from candles, and pumpkin in my coffee cup feel lovely. I used to have elaborate, wonderful rituals to mark the celebration, but now I just dress my space.

There will be a few weeks of warm temps before we stay in the cool, but I love these transitional times when Mother Nature teases with what's to come.

Magnolia is too precious even wearing a bit of lunch :-)

Oliver ready for the movies with all the essentials.

Big and Little M enjoying end of summer treats.

Four-year-old Elliott is loving soccer. The video they send of his making his first goal is priceless.

  1. Hi Jodee! I do enjoy the big adventures from time to time, but home and the little joys in life just seem extra special these days. Days are slower, quiet, peaceful, and just easy. It’s nice to slide in gracefully to these older years and still have the gumption to want to go here and there from time to time. I LOVE all your fall decorations. Your mantel is always so pretty. And the smell of pumpkin and spices is wonderful. Penelope is so cute and Oliver looks so grown up. I can’t believe Elliott is old enough to be playing soccer and the Ms sure make summer treats look yummy!

    1. I like the image of sliding gracefully into our older years! I do love this time of year and all the colors that come with it. These grands are all sprouting up so quickly. I too couldn't believe Elliott was kicking that ball down the field in his uniform :-))

  5. You have the best sky views from your hilltop. Lovely photos! That one of the sunset/clouds inside from the outside is awesome!!! We only get sunsets if they reflex very high in the clouds. The McCullough Mountains between us and the valley block everything lower. Your fall home is so pretty. Great job with the decorations. As always I enjoy seeing the grands. Love those smiles.

    1. It's so much fun to see what pretty visuals we'll be treated to each day! My newer Pixel phone has a superior camera to my old IPhone so I rarely pull out my digital camera at the house. Those happy smiles are contagious :-)

  6. You definitely have gorgeous skies And a rainbow through your window can hardly be beat. We do have alternate days that feel like fall and then like summer. It's not the temperature is so much but the humidity here. Love your decorations they are just wonderful. Your mention of the smell of pumpkin spice in the air makes me want to go out immediately and get a candle. That was possible back when we had a Bed Bath & Beyond in this town but so many of our stores have disappeared. Happy fall to y'all including your darling grandchildren.

    1. Thanks! We loved the property because it had a great view to the north (Dragoon Mountains, Cochise Stronghold), but we actually like the golden plains to the south even more!!

    1. Thanks! We've always loved watching storms move across the ocean and the desert - this property gives us great opportunities for one of them!
