From Fish to Friends - A Very Good Day

Sue has a photo of a trout on her blog so we have to go find it. That same fish. She says it's in a stream below Lake Sabrina. We're sure it's still there.

Tuesday morning we head west on Hwy 168, and once again make a rapid climb. The Sierras are so different from the White Mountains of the day before. More "Wow!s" around every turn.

The Aspens here are - yep, more wow! Aspendell has a population of 75, all living among these beautiful trees - they even have a waterfall. With water in it!

Just before we get to Lake Sabrina we find "the" stream. Bill goes in search of "the" fish.

He finds it! Same fish. And a couple of its friends :-)

I take pictures, he fishes, Tessa runs through the leaves and climbs rocks with me. It is really cold again, because we're back above 9000 feet, so "us girls" return to the Jeep before the fisherman.

Freezing hands finally win out over fishing, and we drive the last 1/4 mile to Lake Sabrina. Several photographers catching the amazing fall colors, but nobody at the water. The bits of color in the harsh, dark rock make a unique back drop to the small mountain lake.

It takes us twice as long to get down the hill because we keep stopping to take more pics - beauty around every corner!

Back home, we get cleaned up, and head back out. We're meeting Eric and Laurel at the Mountain Rambler Brewery!

The company, food and brews are great, and a couple hours fly by as we get to know each other - sharing stories of our full-timing lives, what got us on the road, how very lucky we all are!

They're also heading to Lone Pine on Wednesday so chances are good there will be a gathering of eight :-).

  2. Boy those aspens are just magnificent. What beautiful pictures. Loved seeing them. Envying you meeting up with Laurel and Eric, two of my very favorite people. And a gathering of 8, that sounds like great fun. Wish we could make it 10, although that's getting a little large so I guess we'll pass. :-)

  5. I understand the continual stopping to take pictures. We do it all the time. Love the gorgeous views of fall. Fall brings different colors to different areas. We get to enjoy them one season at a time.
