We have never been able to add fuel on our driver's side. It would just blow back out (makes the inside of your home smell so good when your clothes and shoes have diesel splashed all over them). Camping World couldn't find anything that would cause it, but several weeks ago Bill got underneath and thought the "pipe" looked kinked. So he told Jimmy about it.
And when we left the shop, we went and filled up at 5R Truck Stop - on the driver's side without a problem! Pretty ridiculous that we've had the rig over a year and can finally fill up on both sides.
We stay at Boot Hill RV Park in Alamagordo Tuesday night. Having now been to the real one, I can accurately report that the park looks nothing like it. But it's very clean, with nice people, everything works, including slow internet, and the easy access off and on the highway is why I picked it.

Wednesday's drive over Apache Summit is much different than our trip in March. No wind, and my experience driving through mountains since then, make it a very lovely drive. Before we know it we're in Roswell and setting up at Town and Country RV Park.
Another park chosen only for proximity to our destination, I'm surprised to see they expanded their sites last Spring, and we have a nice level and clean spot. Services are very good, and it's fairly quiet. There are a ridiculous number of lights overhead all night, which so far haven't bothered us. The space is tight, but we aren't going to be home very much while we're here. Best of all, it's a mile from Bill's mom's house which is the reason we're here.
The weather is perfect in Roswell and we love getting to see Mom for more than just a quick one day visit. We plan to get some things done for her, and see the sites we've not had time to enjoy on past visits.
One place we had to try is Big D's Downtown Dive which did not disappoint - excellent sandwiches and salads! |
We'll spend the long weekend puttering around her place, and enjoying just hanging out. Next week we'll go out and play :-))))
I'll bet that fillup cost a bit more even at the low fuel prices. I love pistachios any way but hot. Nice you can spend time nearby family in the comfort of your own home.
ReplyDeleteEven with the added cost it was the best fill-up we've had - just love having everything working :-))
DeleteWe really enjoy pistachios. Can't miss this nut statue when we travel that way:)
ReplyDeleteGood to hear you made it to Bill's mom's:) I'm sure she is thrilled to have you both around for awhile. Enjoy your time together:)
Room to park the motorhome while you shop too! Can't believe we thought we might be too cold here - supposed to be high 80's next week.
DeleteWe're lucky to have the Blue Diamond Almonds packing facility local to us. We'll go into their retail store and come out with a few different flavors. Our favorite is smoked but they even had a pumpkin flavor for the holidays.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you have the freedom to spend time with Bill's mom. Maybe she'll put you two to work... LOL
I'm afraid she wishes we were doing less work, but we're all enjoying the visit :-) I used to love going to Blue Diamond!!
DeleteSpending time with scattered family is a big plus. That's really the reason we started out enjoying what we're doing now. Then, they moved closed together and now they're spread out again. So, the traveling continues.
ReplyDeleteWe figure if the kids start spreading out it will be an even better advantage :-)
DeleteGlad you've finally gotten everything fixed. I always find it interesting when one shop, usually the dealer, can't find the problem and another, usually an independent or a mobile tech, just fixes it. Love the giant pistachio. Wish you'd been in the picture with it to show just how big it is. I could eat pistachios all day long. My favorite nut for sure.
ReplyDeleteYep, the big guys are always in such a hurry :-( I have to remember to put people in those shots - I think it's thirty feet.
DeleteOur home on wheels gives us soooo many choices! Glad all repairs are done and you can scratch things off that list.
ReplyDeleteI so agree with you about the pistachios...love them!
Best feeling ever :-) The pistachios were a nice celebration treat.
DeleteYes indeed, I love having my own space to return to each day after long family visits!
ReplyDeleteAmen - happy for our own space a the end of the day.
DeleteI love the huge picture of the pistachio. Lol... I'm glad you were able to get your gas fixed. Hugs!!
ReplyDeleteNow we have to find that largest ball of yarn! Hugs back :-)
DeleteSo nice that you could be with Bill's mom, Jodee. :)
ReplyDeleteAt 91 years old we know how precious the time is. Although I sometimes think she'll be around long past us!
DeleteWe have a picture with Toadie Hopper in front of that nut! How'd it feel to stand on the driver's side and pump fuel? It's amazing all the things "wrong" that we just get used to. We try to keep a running list, otherwise, unless it stops us from moving, we forget!
ReplyDeleteHe must look really tiny! Bill was very happy to have that option now - without fuel all over him. We had a list too, but so nice to have it empty for a change :-)))))
DeleteIt's wonderful to have our home with us while visiting family, especially for the extended time we spend with my mom and dad in Florida in the winter. I love my folks, but I also love that Eric and I have our own space -- keeps us sane!
ReplyDeleteSoooo true. Better for Mom as well, she's used to being on her own and isn't really "set up" for a lot of company. It makes it easier to stay as long as we need to.
