Rochester, Minnesota
Rochester is an "on the route" stop, but being this close to the newest NFL stadium we have to make a visit to Minneapolis.
Bill reaches out to a couple high school friends who are up in Crosby this week, hoping they can meet us at the stadium.
They can!
Pam and Joe are a fun story. They went to high school with Bill and I, and of course they knew each other.
They both married their high school sweethearts right after graduation. Married for 40+ years, they each got divorced in the last few years. Pam lives in Texas. Joe lives in California in the winter, and Minneapolis in the summer.
Yet they are now a couple :-) There's just something about our little town that makes us all family. Facebook and annual reunions help too.
On our way to the stadium I want to see the Mississippi River. We find a short trail but although the trees and neighborhood are nice, we can't really see the river.
Down the road we find a place to cross - a really big river! No place to get a photo. We've now crossed the big five we had on our list - Columbia, Colorado, Rio Grande, Missouri and Mississippi. So cool!! Love this life :-)
Bill and I get to the stadium early. There are no tours yet, final construction continues out front, but we can get in the pro shop and peak through windows.

Tuesday we move into Wisconsin.
I love all the glass and reflections...so cool you got your own pictures that way!
ReplyDeleteThe angles over the pro-shop doors are just right for taking those shots. Should be fun for lots of fans as they figure it out (or it's already in the brochure). It is a very flashy stadium!
DeleteI was in Minneapolis a few years ago. Didn't go into the stadium but I did ride the tram past it on my way to Mall of America. It sure looks impressive. Can't wait to football to start again. Hopefully we'll be able to catch a few more games this year compared to last year. Glad you enjoyed your time with friends :-)
ReplyDeleteWe are always excited for football, although being back east means games going until midnight! We went to bed before the end of last night's games - will have to build up our stamina during pre-season :-)
DeleteLooks like you're moving across country fast. It's nice to be able to visit friends along the way. Haven't been to Minneapolis in a few years. Maybe it's time we head on back.
ReplyDeleteI was impressed with what a pretty and clean city it is - of course we didn't see all of it, but liked what we did. It's interesting for us two SoCal folks to just see how different the midwest is :-))
DeleteYou are on the move and seeing so many great places. Love the reflections on the building's windows.
ReplyDeleteOn a partially cloudy day it was amazing to watch them move at different angles across the building. It's a very cool spot for taking pics :-)))))
DeleteYour reflection photos are terrific! I wouldn't have known the "selfies" were reflections if you hadn't divulged your secret. I've heard so many good things about Minneapolis—it's one of the city experiences that's on our list. How fun that you had yet another meet up with long time friends!
ReplyDeleteLots of green space and a good metro rail give it high points for me - I'd love to come back and spend more time there.
DeleteDid you say football? All I saw was Luke Bryan! ;-) Glad you got to see some friends and the new stadium!
ReplyDeleteOur friends are going back for that concert on the 19th! I'm afraid for us the next few months are all about football :-)
DeleteGreat story about your friends. Amazing the way you all stay together. Adds extra fun to your travels to be able to meet up with them all over. We loved Minnesota. Spent a month doing their wonderful state parks one year.
ReplyDeleteIt is very fun to find folks all over the country! We're hoping to get to the north part of the state next time - see all those lakes :-))
DeleteWow, reflections off that building are amazing, the best ones of you and friends to share with.
ReplyDeleteI can only imagine what it looks like at night with the city lights!!
