As much as we love our active days, our quiet ones are pretty sweet as well. I do venture out to stock up on groceries, but otherwise we just read, take a leisurely walk by the water, take a few photos, talk about what we might or might not do this summer.
Our last night's sunset is a show stopper, a perfect ending to a lovely week.
I get a message from Linda that they'll be in Q Thursday as well - do we want to join them at their boondock for dinner? Yes, of course we do!
Thursday's drive is less than 40 miles so we don't hook up the Jeep. We do check to see if the connection is working between the coach and the towed, and it isn't. Something else to add to the list of things to do this week :-(
Check in and set up at Quail Run is fast and easy so we make a run through all the vendor areas to get an idea where things are before the huge crowds descend over the weekend. Definitely a different place than our stay last month - by about 400,000 people.
Steve (Linda's other half) sends us the location of their camp and after ignoring the obviously incorrect directions from Google, we follow his pin right to them.
Linda and I have been following each other's blogs and on Facebook, and meeting for the first time is more like reconnecting with an old friend. She and Steve are traveling with two other couples and soon Clark, Elaine, Michael and Lizzie are great friends as well!

We get a tour of the famous Scoopy (their lovely coach), learn about their solar install and usage, and get caught up on their recent adventures. The rapidly changing colors of the sunset is our only distraction as we all share our love of this amazing life.
Making our way back to the pavement in the dark is a whole lot different than finding our way across the desert to their camp in the daylight.......but with only one wrong turn, and Bill's laughter at our circuitous route, we are soon headed safely back home. We'll join them again for the Seahawks game.
There will be more meet ups in the area, some RV shopping will happen, fry bread will be eaten, wiring repair must get done, and hopefully a couple beers will be consumed at the infamous Desert Bar.
We only have a week here, and it sure started out great!
We have lots of memories from Quartzsite. Making more of them will have to wait until next year.
ReplyDeleteWe're having fun making some this year, not sure we'll be back next winter though.
DeleteFun, fun, fun! We too checked out Quail Run a couple of months before the big show and I can just imagine what it must be like NOW!!!
ReplyDeleteActually, I ended up here because of your review :-) I almost forgot that! Every single site is full, not only here, but every one of the parks in town - even those tiny ones along the freeway.
DeleteBoy you have been the recipient of some gorgeous sunsets. Really fine pictures. Love the rig reflection. I've never been to Q so I hope to learn all about it here.
ReplyDeleteI was pretty stunned by that first one! Although Dad lived here for years, this will be my first big show week, so I'm excited to share it with you.
DeleteOkay! You two are having way too much fun:) Enjoy your new friends, the Big Show, and all the shopping!! Lovely sunsets:)
ReplyDeleteWe are definitely having a lot of fun - and saving lots more for Tucson :-)

DeleteWow beautiful sunsets!
ReplyDelete:-)))))))))
DeleteFun, fun and more fun! Enjoy it all....
ReplyDeleteA really great time!
DeleteHow great to connect with more blogging friends in Q! The last time we saw Scoopy was in Eugene when we met up with Laurie and Odel. :-) Have fun with your 400,000 new friends!
ReplyDeleteScoopy has the greatest history - and is still a beautiful coach!
DeleteI had a wiring disconnect also between my View and Tracker. I called Brian, who is a mobile RV tech. He was recommended by Barbara (Me and my Dog,) a fellow blogger. He typically works on solar, but he does other RV stuff as well. He traced the problem and solved it in less than an hour. Very reasonable. Brian Boone – (406) 270-4820
ReplyDeleteI've saved his number for future visits! We lucked out with Phil, but we did have to drive to him.
