Maybe you've heard of the St Joseph statue and prayer for selling a house. This is one busy saint - his little likeness is sold by several dozen providers just on Amazon :-) Although I am a strong believer in bringing positive energy to your goals in multiple ways, I hadn't thought about getting our own St Joseph. Until Saturday.
Clearly I'm anxious to have the house selling behind us, so after just six days on the market I decided to invite St Joseph to get buried upside down in our front yard (that's how it works). Saturday afternoon I ordered him from Amazon for a Tuesday delivery. Monday morning I got the text message that the package would be delivered that day. The realtor called at 2:30 with an offer.
When I got the package about 4:30 I was very surprised at how small he is! That is a lot of power in a very tiny package!! While he was out there riding around in the delivery truck I was already working on a counter offer.

Our counter offer was accepted this afternoon, and we are so excited!! We all know it's not sold until escrow closes, but we're feeling pretty positive this early into it. With a 30 day escrow things will be hopping around here! My plan is to let the realtors do the worrying and all the last minute scrambling ...... it's a good plan.
In addition to St Joseph, all you "commenters" were right as well :-) Many of you saw it happening quickly, and all of you were wonderfully supportive. It is so appreciated, and I'm sending virtual hugs to all of you for the great mojo you sent our way. Not that I'm letting it go until we have a check in hand, and turned over all the keys!!!
Congratulations!! It will all be smooth sailing now (as usual for you and your charmed existence). We are sooo very happy for you and Bill. We will be parked side by side watching a beautiful sunset before you know it!
ReplyDeleteWe are definitely feeling charmed, blessed, fortunate, all those things (also a little silly for sounding impatient after so few days in). Already looking forward to those sunsets for sure!
DeleteWhoot!, Whoot! Now, you are rollin! So happy for you. Looking forward to reading of your adventures.
ReplyDeleteWe're beyond excited Nan! Those adventures are feeling so much closer now :-)
DeleteExcited for You! It's gonna be great, and adding that statue....priceless
ReplyDeleteMaura
Yep, I'm feeling like St Joseph took pretty darn good care of us!
DeleteCongratulations!!! That is such a load off your mind. I wish St. Joseph would have helped us that fast:) That MH is so close now!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Pam - it does indeed remove our most worrisome hurdle. He may have taken pity on Bill - I was getting pretty whiny, pretty fast :-)
DeleteCongrats! We have had St. Joseph at two of our homes, but not the last one. I was in such a rush with that one that I completely forgot about it. It sold in two weeks anyway. LOL I hope everything goes smoothly with your sale. :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you Patty! Perhaps he's a "buy two, get one free" kinda saint? I've never had a sale go this quickly so I'm definitely a fan if we ever need to do it again :-)
DeleteI knew it! I knew it! I knew it!! Congratulations!!! 30 days and then where will you be when the new owners move in to your ex-house?
ReplyDelete:-)))))) I figured you would not be surprised! I looked at apartments on Monday and found a perfect (it's all relative) little place for our three-six month transition from S&B to MH. It has everything we need and works well for Richie's work and school as well. Sort of excited at the prospect of having access to a heated pool and a small gym. Tessa will like that it's across the street from PetsMart :-)
DeleteFingers crossed all goes right with this escrow! Hans and I did not even give notice at work until escrow closed...just to be safe! Because of that, we had to rent our house back from the new owners for three weeks...but it was all worth it!
ReplyDeleteI hear the road calling, loud and clear!
Oh yes - it is very loud! Bill's retirement date is March 27 (I've been free almost two years), and Richie graduates June 2, so we'll be in the area for another six months. Escrow is always a tightrope (one reason we went with a quicker one), so we're working on being "smart"....... it's much more work for me than him :-)
DeleteWOW! Six days is a very, very fast. You better get moving. This house is going to close fast. Congratulations to you! Your dreams are coming true.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much - they really are coming true quickly!! Bringing home boxes this weekend :-)
DeleteGreat news Jodee! We're wishing you a quick closing on escrow and that the apartment life works well too.
ReplyDeleteNow you need to decide which MH you want... decisions, decisions :-)
Thanks Rene and Ron! We're still "waffling" between the original Tiffin and that Thor we fell in love with at the show. But to have the house selling behind us will really open up that next door! Maybe we can take a shakedown-run up to Sacramento and see you guys and the BFF early next year :-)
DeleteHaha, I was going to suggest St. Joseph!! So happy to hear that you're in escrow…hoping that all goes as planned. So far, so good! :-)
ReplyDeleteYou would have been right on!! Thanks much - we're feeling great :-)
DeleteYowza! Fantastic!! Here's to hoping the rest goes as smooth! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteThanks Debbie! We are so excited and feeling very blessed with our good fortune at such a quick sale :-)
DeleteCongrats, hope things go smoothly, now time to figure out what MH you want.
ReplyDeleteThank you! We can't wait to find the perfect one.
