Dog Selfies in the Park

One of the best things we did to reach our debt-free goal was to sell the second car. Even though it means I'm home without transportation unless I take Bill to work, after several months I continue to be happy that we did it.

Right now it means that when the house is being shown, Tessa and I head to the park to "kill a little time". Our weather has warmed up again - hopefully for the last time this year - so it's especially nice that we live close to a lovely park with big trees. We can watch people play tennis, or the little ones on the swings and slides. The squirrels and ravens are very busy, and very verbal, and make for good entertainment. Tessa gets all waggy, whiny and wiggly when other dogs go by, but she's good about staying beside me, so I can lie on the grass and read without worrying about her.

So there's lots of things to do for the short periods of time that the house is shown each day. So far, our favorite has been practicing selfies. Tessa still needs a bit of work....

Silly dog

Five days since we listed and we've had seven showings. Obviously no offers - that would have been the title of the post! I feel good about the one last night (they stayed for about 45 minutes), but no offer yet. If it were anybody else I'd be saying "Relax, it's only been a few days. Geez, be patience!" It's not somebody else......

Temps are headed back down again next week, we'll see what mischief Tessa and I can get into :-)

  1. LOL...I still don't know how to take a selfie...Pete and I try...to no avail! When I saw your home, I really related to it! and it brought back memories of selling our home and having to get out while people made notes about our place....just hated that part of waiting for someone to critique our place....well it sucked.....Time and time again..and them someone just had to have it! and they threw us through a lope we never saw coming! She said, " I will buy it if you get out next week"...What?...Oh yea, ya just never know.

    1. It is weird to think about what they're saying about our stuff. We do get the sugar-coated feedback from the realtors.... I'm sure we could be out in a week, and would sure do it for the right offer - but it sounds exhausting!!! And now you're living the dream :-)

  3. I was laughing out loud at your title. I think Tessa did a good job. She's a talented girl. Good thing you take her with you or including her would be in the contract. Fingers and toes crossed for you but hurry, it's tough getting my shoes on. :-)

    1. So true! No one would look around, she'd have them rubbing her belly :-) Ouch - maybe soft slippers? Your sacrifices are appreciated :-)))))

  4. That offer will come. The ideal offer would have been a full price one paid with cash in less than 24 hours. However, I think we learn a little about patience when selling a house. It'll come. At leas now you have a little more time to plan and dream. Sometimes that's the best part. My fingers and toes are crossed that this will come rather fast.

    1. Yes, more planning and dreaming, and less obsessing about the sale, is definitely what I need to do :-) I'm particularly bad at taking my own advice (aren't we all?). Thanks :-)

That's great that you have had so many showings. I know how hard it is to be patient. Hand in there!!!

  6. Pretty cute! We too are looking forward to cooler temps next week! Hiking in the 80's this morning was hard. Fingers, toes, arms, legs crossed for a quick sale!

    1. Unless there's lots of shade and a breeze, that's too warm for us!

Thanks much for doing the pretzel for us :-))))))))

  7. The selfies of you and Tessa are adorable! So did she take them, or did you? :-) There certainly are a lot of opportunities for practicing patience in life, and selling a home is at the top of the list. One day soon you'll be looking back on all of this and have great stories to share around the campfire with other like-minded travelers!

    1. She would say it was all her, but I did help a wee bit :-) I have to remember I've been here before and lived to tell about it! So looking forward to those campfires :-)

    1. Funny you said that - there was a big red one and two ravens walking around very close to us! There were a few birds in the trees above us that had me worried about other kinds of bombs too :-))))
