Mojave - Bakersfield, California
Uninvited reunion attendees :-( |
Since we have a fantastic weekly rate at the Riverside Casino RV Park in Laughlin ($15/night) it makes good sense to stay the last night there if I'm not feeling great anyway. I call the little park in Mojave, CA, to reduce our stay to one night.
Dina and Audie stop by to say a quick good-bye-for-now. They're staying a couple more days. It turns out to be a good plan as Audie is one more of many who get the same bug.
Snagged one of Patty's photos - Dina and Audie! |
Although it could be any temp as once we set up I just go back to bed.
Bill isn't impressed with all the seasonal/permanent residents, but I thought the park was cute with lots of trees and some green grass. It would have been a nice spot to head out from for more Jeep fun, but not this time.
I cancell our reservations in Three Rivers, and make new ones for Bakersfield River Run RV Park near the Kaiser medical center. A very nice park with level sites, FHU 50 amp, gravel parking for the rig, concrete parking for the Jeep, and green grass outdoor space. No picnic tables, no fire rings. Immaculate park. I think there's a swimming pool.
Except for a trip to urgent care I haven't seen anything but the bed. It's been many years since I've been sick, probably over a decade since it's been this nasty.
As much as all us Eagle Mountain folks love each other, love getting together every year, love sharing our lives and stories, etc., - sharing this bug with 22 others is not what any of us were hoping for!!
Weirdly (and fortunate for Bill), none of the people who are sick have shared it with their spouses who were also there. Most have been diagnosed and treated for flu, one for pneumonia, and at least I was treated for whooping cough which is highly contagious.
I'm happy to say that Friday I'm out of bed although not out of the house. We're here through Sunday when we hopefully continue north to visit with family in Fresno once again.
