Before I Forget

The blog is the number one way I keep track of what we saw and what we did. I hate it when I go back through photos and realize I didn't capture something special in a timely post.

Our last day at the river front site near Parker, AZ, this flock of black birds flew in. Don't know what they were, but there were lots of them! Each photo only caught about a third of them at any one spot. They continuously moved from bathing in the river, hopping in the rocks, and sitting in the trees squawking.

Just like they arrived, every one of them left at the same time.

On our day trip in the Turtle Mountain Wilderness I collected some calcedony roses and promised to post some pics. And then I forgot.....here they are.

He's growing up so fast that I just can't forget to include pics of Ezra - he's so dang cute!  These are several weeks old already.

We're in Waddell, AZ, enjoying one of the most beautiful places we've ever stayed. Extended our time to fix a slide issue, a timely post coming soon :-)

  1. I think that is a whole lot of grackles! What a hoot! They are noisy buggers!

    Ezra is awfully cute!

  2. Ezra is just darling. Love the outfit. Tessa looks quite pensive or maybe that's a far away dreamy look. I think those are boat tailed grackles and they are noisy and they travel in big flocks and if they hang around too long your car will be covered with white splats! Beautiful spot you are staying in now. Can't wait to hear about it.

    1. Fortunately this flock stayed away from the campground! Tessa was really wanting to go "talk" with the dog across the way, not take selfies :-)

  3. They look like Grackles to me as well, or Starlings.

    1. Some of them did look like Starlings - it was weird because they didn't all look alike.

  5. It looks like both red winged blackbirds and boat tailed grackles together.

    1. They were sort of a hodge-podge - and with the red on the wings it looked like orange too.

    1. I couldn't believe the rocks were just lying on top of the lava in that area. We're hoping this mobile tech can finally fix it for good!

    1. I think they're only found where there is heavy volcanic activity, but this was the first time I've seen so many of them.
