Around Town

A day in Port Angeles, Washington.

President of the I Hate Sea Gulls Association, Port Angeles Chapter

Yay!  Where?

Every salad should be like this (Smugglers Landing Restaurant on the Water Front)

Port Angeles from the Ediz Hook, literally around the corner

Site of former Tse-whit-zen Village (Read "Breaking Ground" by Lynda Mapes, an excellent book on the discovery, history and current status)

Maybe the pole was put up after the Dynasty sign

The other sign we loved, but didn't catch with the camera, was the chiropractor who generously advertised "Crawl-ins welcome"

  1. LOL....Love the Crawl- ins welcome, my kind of place. But, it takes an awesome Chiropractor to get me 'In'. That salad has to be the Best ever. Enjoy Jodee!

    1. Me too :-) I thought it was hysterical. On the other hand there is the Asian Bistro downtown that has the best looking menu and a very high rating. Might have to check that one out.

  3. I'd love a bite of that salad. Too bad technology hasn't advanced enough to send little nibbles via the internet.

    1. Couldn't believe it when I saw that sign, had to drive around the block so I could see it again :-) I can't imagine no one's ever told them!

      It tasted amazing.

  5. Well you’ve hooked me. I’m going to have to look into Breaking Ground to see what that’s all about. The signs – too funny! Who would eat at a “Nasty” restaurant? Come back next year, maybe they’ll be out of business. LOL

    1. There's another Dynasty Chinese in Sequim but no pole anywhere near it :-) You will love the book. I bought it at the little store on the Quilete reservation. Was looking for something about their tribe but when I saw this one was about the Klallam at Lower Elwha I knew that was the one to get. I found it enlightening, both about the tribe's mistakes and the DOT head who tried to do the right thing. Still, hard to understand the disrespect of over a century.

  6. OMG, Port Angeles and Sequim have some of the best street and business signs and you posted two of our favorites! There used to be a place that sold wiener pigs right off Kitchen Dick Road that always had a great sign well-known to area residents and travelers. There even used to be a band called Kitchen Dick and the Wiener Pigs. Mostly, residents like to scratch out the letter K on that street sign.

    1. That's awesome! I heard reference to wiener pigs but didn't know the history - too fun! And that street, OMG, I can see folks removing the K every chance they get :-))) makes you wonder who makes these decisions......

  7. Haha, I liked your nomination for the President of the "I Hate Seagulls Association!". And that sign -- OMG -- I agree with Lisa, that's how I feel about Americanized Chinese food. Nasty, indeed.

    1. We had so much fun with that sign placement.

There were a few cars that were in the club, but that one really got hit!
